BURNS – The Lee Wilson Ranch in rural Burns was filled with three generations of the Wilson family on July 5-6 as Wesley and Lamona Wilson celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.
“Fifty years of love, of caring, of happiness, of companionship and sharing,” is how Lamona explained their years together.
The Wilsons lived 39 years in Grant County. They resided on Marysville Road until moving up Pine Creek in 1970, then to Mt. Vernon in 1988. Wesley worked on area ranches and in the woods and later raised Belguim work horses. Lamona spent her life tending to the couple’s five children, some of whom were born at the hospital when it was in Prairie City, with the younger children born at the Blue Mountain Hospital in John Day. The family was active in the Mormon Church and the children participated in 4-H. The couple moved to Burns in 1994.
Their children include: Virginia Wilson Davis of Lake Stevens, Wash.; Lee Wilson of Burns; Ken Wilson of Hines; Cody Wilson of John Day; and William Wilson of Burns. They also have 16 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Wesley and Lamona were married July 5, 1952, at Mackay, Idaho. Other family members sharing the same anniversary date include daughter and son-in-law, Virginia and Alan Davis, who were married 25 years ago and grandson Jerimey and his wife, Olga, who were married one year ago.
