Courts Justice Court CANYON CITY – Grant County Justice Court reported the following fines and judgments:
Tanja R. Mackie, Prairie City, was found guilty by default after failing to appear on a charge of driving while suspended.
She was fined a total of $394, which included an assessment of $35 and $24 cost.
Mackie’s driver’s license will be suspended until the fine is paid in full.
Christopher Ballard, Chaparral, N.M., pled guilty on a charge of minor in possession of alcohol and was fined a total of $309, which included an assessment of $35 and $24 cost.
He was further ordered by the court to participate in and complete an alcohol treatment program, at his own expense, within 30 days, and follow all the recommendations made.
The fine will be paid at the rate of $25 per month beginning Sept. 15.

William Rice, Central Point, violation of basic speed rule (70/55 zone). Fined $95.
Steve Kauffman, Portland, violation of basic speed rule (75/55 zone). Fined $95.
Stacy Moore, Mt. Vernon, failure to pay fines on a charge of driving while suspended. Fined $25.
Jason Hoke, John Day, failure to appear on a charge of open container. Fined $175. He was also assessed a $25 driver’s license suspension fee.
Nicholas Ruiterman, Downey, Calif., failure to appear on a charge of violation of basic speed rule (57/35 zone). Fined $175. He was also assessed a $25 driver’s license suspension fee.
Kevin Rapp, Prairie City, failure to obey a traffic control device. Fined $100.
Kate Stoddard, Mt. Vernon, violation of basic speed rule (68/55 zone). Fined $95.

Matthew Turner, Canyon City, was found not guilty at a hearing on a charge of following too closely.

Aug. 11 – Daniel C. Lambeth, 21, Canyon City, was arrested in Canyon City on charges of probation violation, resisting arrest and assaulting a public safety officer. Oregon State Police assisted in taking Lambeth into custody. He was lodged in the Grant County Jail.

Aug. 7 – Norman R. Weneger, 77, Phoenix, Ariz., was cited for careless driving after being involved in a one-vehicle, minor-injury accident on Highway 26 at milepost 196.5 eastbound.
Aug. 10 – William E. Pope, 72, Mt. Vernon, was cited for careless driving after being involved in a one-vehicle, minor-injury accident on Highway 26 near mile post 152.5.

July 31 – Andrew Culver, 28, Weatherford, Texas, was cited for violation of basic speed rule (61/30 zone).
Aug. 1 – Rich Strong, 22, Prairie City, was cited for maintaining a dog as a nuisance.
Aug. 9 – Clifford Franklin Jr., 43, Prairie City, was arrested on a warrant for violation of a diversion agreement. He was lodged in the Grant County Jail.
Accidents and Incidents John Day Dispatch Aug. 7 – Dayville and John Day ambulances were dispatched to the scene of a motor vehicle accident on Highway 26 at milepost 91. Patient refused transport.
Aug. 8 – John Day Ambulance was dispatched to the scene of a motor vehicle accident on Highway 26 at milepost 164.
Aug. 9 – John Day Ambulance was dispatched to the scene of a motor vehicle accident on Highway 26 just east of the Mormon Church.
Aug. 10 – John Day Fire Department was dispatched to the scene of a car fire in the 600 block of West Main Street.
Aug. 11 – John Day Ambulance was dispatched to the scene of a motorcycle accident on Highway 26 at milepost 164.
Aug. 11 – Prairie City Fire Department was dispatched to a structure fire at Prairie Wood Products.
Oregon State Police
Aug. 6 – Troopers are investigating the illegal taking of a pronghorn antelope on a ranch in Silvies Valley.
Investigation indicated that the incident took place on or about Aug. 1, and the suspect(s) took only the head of the animal. Evidence was recovered at the scene.
Aug. 8 – Troopers investigated a one-vehicle, injury traffic accident which occurred at about 5:28 p.m. on Highway 26 at milepost 164 eastbound.
Investigation indicated that David Alan Palmer, 51, of Portland was traveling east on Highway 26 on his 1993 BMW motorcycle when he struck a deer head on.
Palmer was thrown from his motorcycle on to the eastbound road shoulder. He was transported to Blue Mountain Hospital where he was treated for a fractured collar bone, along with bruises and abrasions.
The motorcycle was towed by Doug’s Towing.
Aug. 10 – Troopers are investigating an attempted burglary at the Bear Valley Mini-Mart in Seneca.
Investigation indicated the suspect(s) attempted to pry open a door at the business sometime during the evening hours of Aug. 8, causing damage to the exterior door molding. Troopers reported the door’s dead-bolt held and no entry was gained.
Aug. 11 – Troopers investigated a one-vehicle, minor-injury traffic accident on Highway 26 at milepost 164.
Investigation indicated that Gordon T. Rice, 42, no address listed, was driving his 1995 Honda Goldwing motorcycle with Audrey Neilson, 13, as a passenger. Rice reportedly hit a deer with the front faring on the motorcycle, which caused only minor scrapes and bruises to Neilson’s leg. She was treated and released at the scene.

MARIYAH DAWNE CONKLIN
Dustin and Lacey Conklin of Prineville became parents of a daughter, Mariyah Dawne Conklin, born at 2 a.m. Sunday, July 21, at St. Charles Medical Center in Bend.
Mariyah weighed 6 pounds 9 ounces and was 19 inches. She joins 3-year-old brother, Maguire.
Maternal grandparents are Larry and Eva Hicks of Prairie City and Robin and Brian Grove of Troutdale.
Paternal grandparents are Larry and Linda Conklin of Prineville.
