Stuart Mosier benefit scheduled for Saturday night

JOHN DAY – A spaghetti dinner in honor of Stuart Mosier is planned at 6-8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, at the John Day Elks Lodge. Cost is $5, adults; $3 for youth 6-12; and childern under 6, free.

All proceeds will benefit Stuart Mosier who will receive a kidney transplant in September at Oregon Health Science Center.

Music in the Park sets toes tapping

CANYON CITY – Canyon City’s Music in the Park will entertain the community from 6-8:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, in Canyon City Park. All are invited to bring a picnic dinner, chairs or blankets, and to sit back and enjoy the music, provided by Faultline from Condon, a three-piece rock ‘n’ roll band.

Music in the Park will be held in conjunction with Jackson Oil Inc.’s 25th anniversary celebration.

Hospice now has local number

PRAIRIE CITY – There is now a local number to call when inquiring about Hospice services, which serve the terminally ill in their own homes and their families.

The Grant County Hospice office is open from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and can be reached by phoning 820-3790.

Blue Basin Hike heads for the hills

KIMBERLY – A ranger-conducted Blue Basin Hike will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, at the trailhead three miles norht of the Sheep Rock Unit visitor center.

The two-hour hike in the Blue Basin fossil beds, will focus on the geologic and fossil history of the basin. This will be the only hike offered in August. For more information, call 987-2333.
