John Day/Snake council meets

PENDLETON – A meeting of the John Day/Snake Resource Advisory Council will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 4, at the Oxford Suites, 2400 S.W. Court Place, in Pendleton.
This federally chartered citizens’ group advises Bureau of Land Management and Forest Service managers on issues affecting the John Day River Basin and a portion of the lower Snake River Basin.
On the agenda for the Wednesday meeting are discussions about the management of Hells Canyon, the Blue Mountains Demonstration Area, noxious weeds, sage grouse, the National Fire Plan and several other topics of interest. A field trip to discuss Off Highway Vehicle management is scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 3 in Ukiah.
An opportunity for public comment is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 4. Depending on the number of people wishing to comment and the amount of time available, comments may be limited. Written comments are also accepted by the council.
