Runners test themselves in Half (Fast) Marathon

JOHN DAY – Tim Vandervulgt from Bend and Pendleton’s Jill Banister were the overall winners of the Strawberry Mountain Half (Fast) Marathon on Sunday, Sept. 14.

The race began in Prairie City and ended at the Kam Wah Chung Museum in John Day, covering a distance of 13 miles.
Vandervulgt had a time of 1:16.18 over the course, and Banister’s time was 1:28.20.
A 10-K run and a 5-K stroll were also a part of the event, and Elaine Neault from Prairie City with a time of 1:03.37 was the ladies overall winner.
