Linda Bartley MacArthur, 99, of Golden Heritage Foster Care in John Day died Oct. 28.
She was born on Dec. 3, 1902, along with her twin brother, Grey Munjar, to William and Gladys Alexandria (Martin) Munjar at a ranch on the South Fork near Dayville.
She received her schooling through ninth grade at Dayville. On June 30, 1920, she married Peter “George” MacArthur at Canyon City and they had two children, Robert Keith and Muriel Alexandria. She and her husband eventually bought the family ranch where she was raised.
Mrs. MacArthur was a housewife and rancher, and owned a restaurant with her mother, where she was known for baking delicious pies.
She was an active in the Presbyterian Church and loved the outdoors and gardening, crochet and needlework, woodworking, reading, cooking and entertaining family and friends.
Mrs. MacArthur is survived by her grandchildren: Colin MacArthur of Dayville, Cheryl Jenison and Gwen Valade of Spray, Bobbi Jacobs of Gresham, Ketha Parsons and Peter Johnson of Boise, Idaho, and Robert Doug Johnson of Newberg; 11 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, son Robert Keith MacArthur and daughter Muriel Alexandria McDougald.
A graveside service was held Nov. 2 at Dayville Cemetery.
Memorial contributions can be made to Grant County Hospice. Driskill Memorial Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
