On a cold but clearing Jan. 8, Marvin Casebeer, Buzz Harris, Amos Cardwell and Clayton Curtis prepared the Strawberry Grange Hall for our first meal of 2003.
Thirteen meals were delivered by Buzz Harris, who also led the flag pledge. The blessing was by Beverly Curtis, who was tending the attendance table for Ruth Johns, who was out of town.
Forty-one diners ate spaghetti, vegetable salad, garlic bread, and fruit Jell-O with whipped topping. The meal was served by Eula Thompson, Norma Rynearson and Helen Emmel, with Barbara Raines and Marjorie Harris assisting.
Those arriving from Blue Mountain Nursing Home were Slim Williams, Thelma Reusser, Virginia Hymer, Ruby Dow and Sally Herburger, who were accompanied by Lorna Ashmead and Shawna Morin.
Izetta Krannenburg attended for the first time, along with her niece Nancy Wachter. Those receiving gift certificates included Marvin Casebeer, Prairie Drug and Village Flowers; Bob Kowing, Lunch Box Deli; Mel Rookstool, Mort’s Barber Shop; and Roy Graham, Branding Iron Cafe.
After the meal, the floors and tables were cleaned by Marvin Casebeer and Cleo Dunten, who also pre-washed silverware.
