Prairie City Seniors: Good eats, companionship await at Prairie City senior center

Published 4:00 pm Tuesday, February 18, 2003

The sunshine is nice, but I wish it would snow. At least there is some in the mountains, but not nearly the usual accumulation.

Our early-morning fellows on Feb. 12 were Clayton Curtis, Buzz Harris, Carl Johns and Marvin Casebeer, who got the tables set for lunch. Buzz also delivered 10 take-out meals.

Bob Kowing led the flag salute at noon.

Lucky winners of the drawings were Mel Rookstool, Prairie Drug and Village Flowers; Buzz Harris, haircut at Mort’s Barber Shop; and Barbara Reynolds, Lunch Box Deli.

Joining us from Blue Mountain Nursing Home were Slim Williams, Betty Paschen, Virginia Hymer and Fran Ulrich. We’re glad Shawna Morin and Lorna Ashmead can bring these guests each week.

The Home Extension ladies – Marjorie Harris, Barbara Raines, Bonnie Pickle (who served for the first time) – set out a meal of spaghetti and meat sauce with Parmesan cheese, grilled french bread, tossed lettuce salad and chocolate cake.

The ladies were helped with clean-up by Buzz Harris, Carl and Ruth Johns and Cleo Dunten. The hall clean-up workers were Ottis Garrett, Clayton Curtis and Marvin Casebeer.

I gave my reading, but I can’t remember who gave it to me…or who I was going to give it to!
