LA GRANDE – Senior Ashley Thunell was named the Wapiti League’s most valuable girl’s basketball player for the 2002-2003 season by a vote of league coaches at an awards ceremony following the boys championship game of the District 8-2A tournament on Saturday, March 1.

Thunell was also named a first-team all league player, along with junior teammate Amanda Courchesne.

Other first-team players include seniors Tiffany Rasmussen and Leanne Foster from Imbler, and Enterprise senior Lacey Nobles.

Grant Union seniors Brandi Moles and Amy Jones received honorable mention recognition.

Players are nominated by their respective coaches who cannot vote for their own players. All-league teams are determined by votes cast by coaches from other teams in the league.
