Strawberry Mountain Relay runs June 14

PRAIRIE CITY – The Second Annual Strawberry Mountain Relay to raise funds for improvements of the Prairie City High School football field and the construction of a track facility is scheduled for Saturday, June 14.

The open exchange relay for teams of one to eight members is a challenging 78-mile run conceived by the Prairie City Athletic Complex, a non-profit organization, to help raise funds to complete the proposed athletic complex at the high school.

The run begins at the viewpoint five miles east of Prairie City and loops around the Strawberry Mountain Wilderness through varying elevations from 3,000 to 5,900 feet, ending at the Prairie City High School track.

Categories for entrants are broken down to: all men’s; all women’s; mixed, with at least half of the team made up of women; masters with a minimum age of 40 and any combination of men and women; corporate, with six team members who are employed at one business, government agency or school; high school, with six teammates from any one school, any combination of boys and girls with recent graduates being eligible; and family, all immediate family including in-laws.

Medals will be awarded to the first place winners in each category.

Entry fees are $200 per team, and $225 per team after June 1.
