CANYON CITY – Humbolt Elementary School is celebrating on Thursday, May 15.

The big day will begin at 9 a.m. with grandparents and senior citizens invited to enjoy coffee and cinnamon rolls in the cafeteria, then listen to the first-graders read.

At 2 p.m. the “Exceptional School” assembly will feature Ed Dennis, chief of staff for Oregon State Schools Superintendent Susan Castillo.

An open house at 6:30 p.m. will welcome parents and interested community members.
