Larry Norris, 55, of Burns died May 10 at his home.

He was born May 22, 1947, at Dayton, Wash., to Elmer “Curly” and Vonita (Ward) Norris.

He graduated from Long Creek High School in 1967.

Mr. Norris served in the United States Army in Korea during the Vietnam War.

In the summer of 1971, he moved to Burns and worked with his father in the logging industry.

On June 1, 1972, he married Martha Howard.

He was employed by Edward Hines Lumber Company until its closure, farmed and logged for a time; then he joined the team at L.T.&L. Logging. Since 1989, he worked for the Harney County Road Department.

He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, bowling and telling jokes. He coached Little League teams while his sons were growing up.

Mr. Norris is survived by his wife, Martha Norris of Burns; two sons and a daughter-in-law, James and Marcy Norris and Larry Todd Norris of Burns; mother, Vonita Hinkle of Pilot Rock; five sisters, Kathy Johnson, Sue Hinkle and Rhonda Henshaw of Pendleton, Bonnie Zick of John Day and Pam Starbuck of Burns; five brothers, Bill Hinkle and Jim Hinkle of Pilot Rock, Jay Hinkle of Ukiah, Bob Norris and Rich Norris of LeMoore, Calif.; four grandchildren, Damon, Ty, Ashley and Kali; and close family friend Sarah Robinson.

He was preceded in death by his father, Elmer, and stepfather William Hinkle.

Funeral services were held May 17 at Harney County Fairgrounds.
