JOHN DAY – Singer-songwriter Charlie Walker of Prineville will perform 7-10 p.m. Saturday, July 19, at Straight Street Coffeehouse, located at Cornerstone Christian Fellowship, 139 N.E. Dayton St.
Walker has been singing to public audiences since 1980. The early stages of his career included secular venues. Today, this cowboy spends more time in churches, at rodeo Bible camps and coffeehouses.
“His love for his God and his country compels him to write, sing, and play his guitar from his heart,” said a coffeehouse spokesperson. “His hope is to encourage hearts and cause his audiences to look at their relationship with God and with others.”
Straight Street Coffeehouse is open to the public monthly with live music on the third Saturday and provides a game room with pool, ping pong, foosball, air hockey and arcade video games. Straight Street is open to all ages, but no nursery nor child care is available. There is no cover charge or charge for snacks, but donations are accepted. The Coffehouse no longer has its monthly CD music night on the first Saturday.
