LONG CREEK – Coming off a three game loss to Burnt River on Friday, Oct. 10, the Long Creek volleyball team played a strong match against Huntington on Saturday, Oct. 11, but remained in last place in the TriCo League dropping a 25-23, 19-25, 25-17, 25-12 decision to the Locomotives.

“We played pretty well in the final game of the match against Burnt River, and we played well in today’s second game,” Long Creek coach Lloyd Hartley said. “We decided to just go out and play volleyball and have a lot of fun.”

The Mountaineers rallied from a 15-10 deficit in the first game against Huntington to take a 22-20 lead, but floor mistakes allowed the Locomotives to come back and win the game 25-23.

In the second game, Long Creek trailed 14-11 before pulling together to take a 22-18 lead.

With just seven players on the team, the Mountaineers wore down in the third and fourth games, and Huntington was able to put the match away with 25-17, 25-12 wins.

The Mountaineers are idle until Saturday, Oct. 18, when they host Mitchell.
