Komnings celebrate 50 years of marriage

CANYON CITY – Curtis and Edie Komning will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Nov. 1.

They were married Nov. 1, 1953, at St. Marks Church in Southeast Portland.

Before moving to John Day in 1977, they lived seven years in Portland and 17 years in Bend.

In observance of the special occasion, their two sons, Dan and David, and Curt’s sister, Joan Walter, recently arranged a week at Gold Beach. They rented a big house, which was decorated in a Hawaiian theme. During a luau the group enjoyed fresh pineapple, fresh crab and other Hawaiian dishes.

The whole family, including four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, joined in activities ranging from salmon fishing and boating, to walks on the beach, nature walks and a jet boat trip to Agnes for sightseeing and lunch.
