PRAIRIE CITY – The league-leading Prairie City High School volleyball team dropped from first to third place in the Old Oregon League on Friday, Oct. 24, losing 25-17, 25-11, 25-14 to Powder Valley.

With the loss, the Panthers become the No. 3 seed from the OOL into the District 4-1A tournament set for Saturday, Nov. 1, in John Day.

Prairie City will play Spray, the No. 2 seed from the TriCo League, at 10 a.m. in the opening round of the tournament.

“We didn’t have a good match against Powder Valley,” Prairie City coach Eva Saul said. “They played well against us, and we couldn’t get our offense going. This year, any of the top four teams in our league could beat anyone of the other teams on any given day. Today was Powder Valley’s turn to win.”

Amanda Rockhill led the Panthers with six kills. Danielle Smith had nine points and two kills, and Brittany Reid had four kills.

Lindy Black had three kills, and Eve Denton had seven assists and four points.
