Wildland burn plans, computer skills offered locally through BMCC

JOHN DAY – Planning for Fires on Multiple Ownership Lands is the topic of a course that will be offered in November by Kendall Derby at Grant Union High School through Blue Mountain Community College, Grant County Center. The class is geared toward landowners who border public lands or those interested in applied fire for land management. Burn plan designs from various agencies will be reviewed. Tuition is $80, which includes materials.

Introduction to Arc Welding will be offered Nov. 3-17, on Mondays and Wednesdays at GUHS ag shop. Instructors Boyd Britton and Bryce Meyer will work with beginning welders or those who want to sharpen their welding skills. Personal repair and maintenance will be discussed as well as weld position, electrode selection and basic metal fitting. Tuition is $75 for materials and lab fee.

Computer Survival Skills will be taught by Terri Meyer on Thursdays Nov. 20-Dec. 4. Class time will be 6-9 p.m. at GUHS. In this introductory class, Students will learn more about MS Word, Excel and the Internet. Tuition is $55 for materials and lab fee.

Relationship Solutions continue with instructor Christy Rheu Waldner, a domestic relations mediator. The two-day workshops offered include: Roadblocks to Intimacy, Nov. 21-22; and Developing Your Love for Each Other, Dec. 19-20. Cost for each course is $30 per person or $50 per couple.
