Burns resident Harold James Gruber, 64, died Dec. 7 in Redmond.
Mr. Gruber was born March 14, 1939, in Emmett, Idaho, to Leonard and Alta Marie (Rynerson) Gruber.
He lived in McCall, Idaho, for several years and worked at the Boise Cascade Saw Mill.
In 1969, he married Bernice Bray in Emmett, Idaho, where they resided until 1986. After moving to John Day, he was employed at the Huck Steff Mill. He was a timber faller and loved to dabble in old junk and scrap iron. He worked for the Forest Service at Prairie City, then transferred to John Day until his retirement in 1996. The family lived in Burns since 1997.
Mr. Gruber is survived by his wife, Bernice ; four children, Von, Dawn, Anthony and Ashley; three grandchildren; two brothers; aunts, uncles and cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Robert and Marshal; brother, Garder; and granddaughter, Tacie Teeman.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Autumn Funerals in Redmond is in charge of arrangements.
