Kimball qualifies for AMA Motocross Championship at Lynn Ranch

Graduate will be competing against the best in the country.

JOHN DAY – Tennessee is a long way from Eastern Oregon, but that will be the next stop for local motocross rider Darren Kimball who qualified for the famous AMA National Motocross Championships thanks to his fourth-place finish at the recent AMA Regionals in Washougal, Wash.

The 18-year-old who graduated from Grant Union High School two weeks ago, will be going up against the top motocross riders in the nation on Aug. 2-7 competing in the 125cc Class C Stock Division when he takes to the track at the Loretta Lynn Ranch in Hurricane Mills, Tenn., in the national championship event.

Getting to the championship was not an easy task for Kimball who was up against 28 other riders in his division at the Washougal event held June 12-13.

Sponsored by Les Schwab Tires and John Day Polaris, Kimball is a regular rider in motocross events held at the Chaparral Race Track in Boise, Idaho, and has plans on attending Boise State University in the fall.
