PRAIRIE CITY – Only 10 players participated in the Prairie City Volleyball camp conducted by Eastern Oregon University assistant coach Jamie Russell on Aug. 16-18, but all of them were Prairie City players.
“I would have liked to have had a few more players, but as it was they were able to get a lot of individual attention which was good,” Panthers’ head coach Eva Saul said. “I have my entire varsity team here plus a couple of junior high girls.”

JOHN DAY – Approximately 70 high school and junior high school players participated in the three-day Grant Union High School Volleyball Camp on Aug. 16-18.
The camp was conducted by Prospectors’ head coach Sophia Morris and assistants Cindy Batease and Denice Lovell.
The younger players in grades five through eight attended the camp’s morning session while high school age players worked out in the afternoon.
“We have players from Long Creek and Monument, Dayville in addition to Grant Union; so we have a good mix from around the county,” Batease said.
Grant Union began two-a-day practice sessions Aug. 23. Its first match is Sept. 7 against Heppner.
