John Day Seniors: Tsunami Aid dinner planned

The John Day Senior Center will be sponsoring a Salisbury steak dinner at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 6. All proceeds will go to the Northwest Medical Team Tsunami Aid.
Cost will be $5 for adults, children fiver years old or younger, $2.50.
Come, enjoy a great meal. All help will be appreciated.
On Monday Jan. 3, Blue Mountain Hospital served soup and sandwiches. Ben Luethe asked the blessing and Glenda Simonsen led the flag salute.
Wednesday night bingo callers were Mary Brown and Judy Nelson. Blackout bingo was won by four and the consolation prize of $30 was split four ways. Sherm Cornell won $30 of the $500 pot.
On Jan. 6, the St. Thomas Episcopal Church members served a meal of ham and beans. Pastor Cheadle asked the blessing and Arlene Oliver led the flag salute. The Deborah Chapter 43, Eastern Star furnished the entree .
Rita West’s granddaughter joined her as a guest. Police Chief and Mrs. Tirico also helped and enjoyed the meal.
Carolyn Asher was awarded the certificate from Chester’s Thriftway and Billie Bullard won the free meal.
Pork and sauerkraut is on the menu for Jan. 13. Don Caldwell announced elections would also be held on that day for the Board of Directors. Two new members are required.
A trip to Baker City is being planned for Jan.18. Anyone wishing to go, contact Helen Bogart at 575-1636 or the John Day Senior Center at 575-1825.
Monday, Jan. 17 the Center will be closed.
The good thing about standards is there are so many to choose from.
