Seneca fire chief retires

Richard Schwartzer retired as fire chief of Seneca after 23 years.-

The City Council honored him at its December meeting with a plaque and a gift certificate.

In a statement the City Council said: “The City Council and our community greatly appreciate his hard work and all of the volunteer time that he has put into our fire department and our little city.-

“He has built up our fire department and the equipment from grants he has received.”

Schwartzer plans to remain as part of the fire crew.- –

Bill Long was appointed as the new fire chief.
