Budget includes funding for meth fight

Rep. Greg Walden (R-OR) announced that Oregon Partnership will receive $250,000 from the comprehensive Fiscal Year 2005 appropriations bill passed by Congress last November.-

Walden is a member of the Congressional Caucus to Fight and Control Methamphetamine.
Oregon Partnership is a statewide nonprofit organization dedicated to substance abuse prevention and treatment referral.-This federal investment will be used for Oregon Partnership’s Methamphetamine Prevention Program, which will focus on communities throughout Oregon that are most vulnerable to the devastating effects of meth.-
“Areas in Eastern Oregon have become some of the most prolific meth production regions in the nation due to the ease of ingredient procurement and access to arterial highways and waterways beneficial to trafficking the drug throughout the West and also into Canada,” Walden said.
