Nov. 12, 1929 – Feb. 8, 2005

Clifton Donald MacKay, 75, passed away at his home in Dayville on Feb. 8.

A graveside service was held Monday, Feb. 14 at the Dayville Cemetery with Pastor Skip Inscore of the Dayville Presbyterian Church officiating.

Mr. MacKay was born on his home ranch in Dayville to George and Zella (MacLennan) MacKay on Nov. 12, 1929. He was a life-long resident of Dayville, having graduated Dayville High School in 1948. He was associated with his father in the cattle and sheep ranching business. After his parents death, he continued the operation of the ranch until he passed away.

His grandparents, Donald & Mary MacKay, and his grandfather, Donald MacLennan, immigrated from Scotland in the late 1880’s. His grandmother, Dora MacLennan, was a member of the old time Allen Snyder family.

Mr. MacKay enjoyed his association with them and was intensely proud of his Scottish heritage. He loved hunting and was an avid gun collector. The outdoors filled his life and the work on the ranch was his primary occupation. He enjoyed his animals, pets, and the native wildlife.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents and parents, and is survived by his cousins Dalton Stewart and Dolina Humphreys of Canyon City; Theda Weatherford of Dayville; Mr. J.W. Talmie of Rosshire, Scotland; and other cousins.
