Thomas Orchards

Situated along the banks of the scenic John Day River is Thomas Orchards which grows a wide variety of fruits that are picked, packed and sold all across the northwest.

More than a dozen varieties of apples are grown, as several varieties of cherries, apricots, peaches, pears, plums, prunes and nectarines.

The orchard’s 185 acres of fruit trees are one of the loveliest sights along the river, especially in the spring and early summer when in blossom.

By June, the first cherries are ripe and ready for picking, followed each month by another fruit through October when the apples become ripe.

For those who enjoy picking their own fruit, the orchard offers a U-pick, and people come from as far away as Baker City,to the east, Prineville to the west, Pendleton to the north and Burns to the south to pick fresh fruit from the trees for home canning and freezing.
