"We may be here awhile, I think some of the guys in front of us hit their balls out of bounds," said Jim Wells, one of the players waiting to tee off. “Our group has approximately 120 members who represent eight different gold courses in Central Oregon,” said Jim Wells, president of the association.
Wells, who also serves as the association’s secretary and treasurer, is the person responsible for setting up the annual tournament in John Day and at the other golf courses members of the association play at.
“Our members are from Madras, Crooked River, Burns, John Day, Juniper, The Greens, Kah-Nee-Tah and Hot Springs,” Wells said. “We play one tournament a year at each of the eight courses. We usually have about 90 players at each of the tournaments and I think there are about 67 here today. Burns had the lowest turnout and I don’t know what happened to them.”
