Goodwin sings very beautifully

JOHN DAY – Clear Choice furnished the entree of roast beef and paid for everyone’s meal. This was much appreciated by a capacity crowd. Brad Westphal talked about Medicare prescription drug plan. My thanks to Clear Channel for “working” for me, as it promised.

Janine Goodwin, accompanied on the piano by Betty Sheedy, sang the two songs, beautifully.

Jim Spell led the flag salute and Janine Goodwin asked the blessing.

Verda Priest was wished a happy birthday, and Harvey and Diane Sweek were celebrating a wedding anniversary. Bingo callers were Carolyn Caldwell and Judy Nelson.

The $250 blackout for $50 was won by Doris Lucas. Ken Gillihan won $599 of the $599 jackpot. Wow! Servers Monday Aug. 29th was members of the First Christian Church. Jan Ellison led the flag salute and Pastor Cheadle asked the blessing.

Thelma Temple was awarded the certificate from Len’s and Eulala Herbert received John Day Pharmacy certificate. A large group has been enjoying meals at Prairie City senior center. Ukiah now has a center and Monument and Long Creek folks are planning a bus trip to enjoy this new center.

The Sept. 1 meal entree was furnished by the Conlee Family. Servers were members of St. Thomas Episcopal Church.

Sept. 8, fried fish will be served; beef and noodles, Sept. 12; and roast pork, Sept. 15.

Old age is when you know all the answers, but nobody asks you the questions.
