Robert “Bob” Norman Harrison

Robert Harrison, a Vietnam veteran and Tri-Met bus driver, died while on an outing in Eastern Oregon with his brother and friends. He was 57.

Harrison was born in 1947 in Baker, and also lived in Prairie City, Bates, Susanville, and other Eastern Oregon towns, as his father worked in the logging industry.

In 1961, his family moved to Portland, and Harrison attended Grant High School, graduating in 1966. He then enlisted in the U.S. Navy for four years.

In 1969, he married Nancy Marie Pritt and they had a daughter, Candace Virginia Harrison.

In 1981, he married Sandra Jo Porter. He was employed as a Tri-Met bus driver for 34 years, and retired with honors in September 2004.

Mr. Harrison’s hobbies were panning for gold, collecting coins and historical searches in and around ghost towns, especially Susanville. His other interests were football, car races, tennis, golf and running. He was an expert home remodeler.

Harrison has a daughter; Candace Harrison Rowell of Waterville, Ohio; stepchildren Ralph Porter, Tracy Pederson, Michelle Kennedy, Ian Misko and William Misko; nine grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

He is survived by his stepmother, Joyce Irene Harrison of Milwaukee; brother Jerry Harrison of St. Helens; and stepsisters Gloria Hanson of Milwaukee and Gayle Brandel of Reno, Nev.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Ethel Margaret Johnson, in 1949, and his father, Gerald Malcolm Harrison, in 1996.
