Williams has Sousa sounds

Austin Williams was selected as the John Philip Sousa Award winner, as the outstanding senior band member at Grant Union High School. The award was presented by Mary Ann Vidourek (right), band director, May 16 at the spring band concert.

“I’ve actually worked for it since (I started) high school,” said Williams. “It means I’ve committed to it.”

Williams, who plays clarinet and-soprano saxophone,-plans to study music technology at Lane Community College in Eugene, where she will study music production as well as perform in the college band.

In related news, members of the Grant Union High School band will be performing June 9 in Boise at the area water park. Approximately 25 students will be attending the concert.
