Track project gets 20 grand

PRAIRIE CITY – The Ward Family Fund, the Shelk Fund, and the JG Edwards Fund of the Oregon Community Foundation awarded a grant of $20,000 to Prairie City Athletic Complex to renovate the football field and track at Prairie City School.

The Prairie City Athletic Complex, was established in 2001 with a mission to provide the city’s youth and community with a modern, safe, outdoor athletic facility at Prairie City School.

The estimated cost of the renovation is $287,000. More than $100,000 has been raised through fund-raising events, cash donations from local businesses, private citizens, and a grant from the Ford Family Foundation.

In addition $45,000 worth of material, labor and equipment has been pledged. The renovation will not begin until all funds are secured.
