Irene Reich, of Monument, died Saturday June 24, 2006, at Blue Mountain Hospital. She was 73.

A memorial service will be held 10 a.m. Sunday, July 9, 2006, at the Long Creek Seventh-day Adventist Church. Interment will follow at the Willow Creek Ranch.
Mrs. Reich was born Aug. 8, 1932, in Los Angeles, Calif. to Alvin and Esther Kurz. She attended La Sierra Academy High School, where she graduated in 1950. She then attended college in Keene, Texas, where she graduated in 1952 with a teaching certificate. She married Clifford Reich in Arlington, Calif. in 1953. She retired from teaching school in 1969.
Mrs. Reich had many hobbies, including rock hunting, lapidary, traveling, spending time with family, reading, drawing, painting, raising llamas, and creating Christmas wreathes. She was also very active in the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Long Creek. She was a foster parent for 25 years, ran summer reading camps for four years, and traveled in Australia, New Zealand, Figi, and Hawaii for eight months.

She is survived by her husband, Clifford Reich, of Monument; daughter, Pearl Spencer of Monument; son, Dan Reich, of Walla Walla, Wash.; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
