Nelda Martin of Long Creek died Wednesday, Aug. 23, 2006, at her residence.-She was 89.

A funeral service was held Tuesday, August 29, 2006, at the Long Creek Community Center.-Pastor Rod Bieber officiated.-Interment followed at the Olney Cemetery in Pendleton.-

-Mrs. Martin was born Feb. 5, 1917, in Long Creek to Frank and Nona (Criswell) Weissenfluh.-She attended Long Creek High School-and graduated in 1936.-She married Herbert Martin in Long Creek on Sept. 25, 1935.-She was a homemaker and was very dedicated to raising her children.-

-Survivors include her son, Dale Martin, of Long Creek; two daughters,-Connie Wood of John Day and Marla Barnhart of Pendleton; 13 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
