SOUTHEAST ZONEFISHING

ANA RESERVOIR: Catch rates for hybrid bass has been fair. Trout fishing has been fair. The few fish being caught are nice sized individuals.

ANA RIVER: Fishing has been slow for rainbow trout in the river.

ANTHONY LAKE: Fishing is good. Restocked with legal and trophy rainbows week of Aug. 14.

BALM CREEK RESERVOIR: Should be good fishing for rainbow trout.

BEULAH RESERVOIR: The reservoir was 38 percent full on September4, and inflow was 68 cfs. Fishing continues to be slow.

BIG ROCK RESERVOIR: Anglers have reported catching fish but due to warm weather conditions this reservoir is currently not recommended for fishing.

BLITZEN RIVER: Most of the road access to the Blitzen River is now open after recent fire closures. Angling should be fair to good for 12 to 16 inch redband trout. Flow was 42 cfs September 5. Dry fly angling should be good. In addition, nymph or spinner fishing should bring some success. Special regulations are in effect. Artificial flies and lures only. Catch and release for trout from November 1 through May 26. Two fish bag limit from May 27 through October 31.

BULLY CREEK RESERVOIR: The reservoir was 49 percent full on September 4, and the boat ramp is accessible. Angling for warmwater fish is slow.

BURNS POND: Slow angling for rainbow trout. Bass angling should be good.

CHICKAHOMINY RESERVOIR: Slow to fair angling for rainbow trout. Angling should improve after the weather cools.

COTTONWOOD RESERVOIR: Angling success has been low. Remember special regulation, 2 trout per day.

DELINTMENT LAKE: Fair angling for 10-12 inch rainbow trout, but aquatic vegetation makes angling difficult. The lake has been stocked with both legal-size rainbow trout and fingerling rainbow trout.

DUNCAN RESERVOIR: Fishing has been fair for boat and bank anglers. There is increased aquatic vegetation present within the reservoir.

EAGLE CREEK and WEST EAGLE: Fishing is good. Restocked with legal and trophy rainbows week of Aug. 14.

FISH LAKE (Halfway): Legal and trophy rainbows were stocked in July. Fishing is reported to be fair to good.

FISH LAKE (Steens Mountain): The North Steens Loop road has reopened after the recent fire. Angling should be good for rainbow and brook trout.

FOURMILE LAKE: Angling for rainbow trout has been good, kokanee angling has been fair. Lake trout angling has been slow.

GERBER RESERVOIR: Crappie and warmwater fish are available.

GRANDE RONDE LAKE: Fishing is good. Restocked with legal rainbows week of Aug. 14.

HIGGINS RESERVOIR: Higgins Reservoir is located on private land, and the landowner allows public access for angling but has limited it to walking access only. There is a gate approximately mile from the reservoir.

JUNIPER LAKE: The lake was dry for the last few years, but it has a substantial amount of water this year. The lake was stocked with fingerling cutthroat trout this spring.

KLAMATH AND AGENCY LAKES: Angling is good for large redband trout in spring areas and at river mouths.

KLAMATH RIVER: Boyle Dam downstream to Oregon /California border-Angling for native redband trout has been good.

KRUMBO RESERVOIR: Krumbo Reservoir road will be closed periodically for construction. Contact the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge at 541-493-2612 for the road closure schedule. Slow angling for rainbow trout from 10 to over 20 inches. Fly anglers had the best success using leech, damselfly, or midge imitations fished slow. Bait anglers have had fair success, and spin anglers caught trout using spoons and spinners.

LAKE OF THE WOODS: Angling for rainbow trout, yellow perch and Kokanee has been good. Bass angling has been fair.

LITTLE HEART LAKE: Kokanee and hatchery rainbow trout are available for harvest in the reservoir.

LOFTON RESERVOIR: Fishing has been slow for legal sized trout. High numbers of tui chub are present in the reservoir.

LOST RIVER: Angling has been fair for warm water game fish

MALHEUR RIVER (Warm Springs Reservoir downstream to South Fork Malheur River): Angling below the dam is slow. Approximately 486 cfs was being released from the Warm Springs Reservoir on September 4.

MALHEUR RIVER (South Fork Malheur River near Riverside, downstream to Gold Creek): Flow in this section is a result of runoff down the South Fork Malheur River and releases from the dams. Approximately 486 cfs was being released from Warm Springs Reservoir and 139 cfs was being released from Beulah reservoir as of September 4. This section of the river was stocked with fingerling rainbow trout in May.

MALHEUR RESERVOIR: Angling is slow.

MALHEUR RIVER, NORTH FORK: Trout angling is fair. Remember to release bull trout. Angling is restricted to artificial flies and lures upstream of Beulah Reservoir.

MALHEUR RIVER, MIDDLE FORK: Trout angling is fair. Remember to release bull trout. Angling is restricted to artificial flies and lures upstream of Bluebucket Creek.

MANN LAKE: Slow angling for cutthroat trout. Special regulations are in effect. Two trout per day, 16 inch minimum length. Restricted to artificial flies and lures.

MILLER LAKE: Angling for Brown and rainbow trout has been good.

MOON RESERVOIR: No recent angling report. Trout fishing should be slow, and bass fishing should be fair.

NORTH MALHEUR BLM STOCK PONDS: Some of the roads still may be washed out, so anglers need to be cautious. Trout angling is fair.

OWYHEE RESERVOIR: The reservoir was 66 percent full September 4. All boat ramps are in the water. Warmwater angling is fair.

OWYHEE RIVER (Lower): Discharge below the dam was about 240 cfs on September 4. Angling for rainbow trout and brown trout is fair.

OWYHEE RIVER (Upper): Discharge at the Rome Gage was 142 cfs on September 4. Angling for smallmouth and channel catfish is fair to good.

PHILLIPS RESERVOIR: Fishing is fair for trout. Restocked with additional legal and trophy rainbows the week of Aug. 2. Water level is at 54 percent.

PILCHER RESERVOIR: Crappie fishing has picked up and a few rainbow have been caught recently. Water level is 19 percent.

PINE CREEK: Fishing is best near Cornucopia. Was stocked this summer.

POLE CREEK RESERVOIR: Angling is slow.

POWDER RIVER: Use of bait allowed. Restocked with legal and trophy rainbows week of Aug. 14 below Mason Dam.

SHERLOCK GULCH RESERVOIR: Fishing has been good for legal sized trout. Check road conditions prior to traveling to reservoir.

SNAKE RIVER: Flow was 8,451 cfs near Nyssa and 10,717 cfs near Weiser on September 4. The river is clearing. Angling for catfish and smallmouth bass is improving.

SPAULDING RESERVOIR: Fishing has been fair for legal sized trout.

SPRAGUE RIVER: Angling for wild redband and brook trout has been good.

SUNSTONE RESERVOIR: Fishing has been good for legal size trout.

SYCAN RIVER: Angling for wild redband and brook trout has been good.

THIEF VALLEY RESERVOIR: Fishing is fair. Water level is at 16 percent.

TOPSY RESERVOIR: Angling for Warmwater fish has been good.

TWIN LAKES (Halfway): Fishing is slow.

UPPER WILLIAMSON RIVER: Angling is good for wild Redband trout.

UNITY RESERVOIR: Crappie fishing has picked up. Trout angling is slow. Water level is at 35 percent.

WARM SPRINGS RESERVOIR: The reservoir was 53 percent full September 4. The boat ramp is accessible. Fishing for small perch is good.

WARNER LAKES: Fishing has been slow for warmwater species. Some fish are being caught around Hart Lake spillway and some of the northern lakes. Recent sampling shows high abundances of white and black crappie in the 8-10 in. range with some fish up to 15 in.

WILLOW VALLEY RESERVOIR: Angling for warmwater fish has been good.

WOLF CREEK RESERVOIR: No new reports but fishing has been fair for trout and small crappie. Water level is at 30 percent.

WOOD RIVER: Angling is good for brown and wild Redband trout.

YELLOWJACKET LAKE: No recent angling report. Aquatic vegetation may make angling difficult. Angling should be fair for 12 to 16 inch rainbow trout.

NORTHEAST ZONEFISHING

GRANDE RONDE RIVER: Open for adipose fin-clipped steelhead September 1.

HONEYMOON AND TEEPEE PONDS: Have been stocked with legal and trophy rainbow. Fishing is fair.

IMNAHA RIVER: Trout angling success is fair

JUBILEE LAKE: Fishing for 10-12 inch trout is good with an occasional 2 pound plus trophy trout being caught.

MARR POND: Has been stocked with legal and trophy rainbow. Fishing is fair.

MCKAY RESERVOIR: The reservoir is approximately 63 percent full and being drawn down. No recent reports, although angling is generally good this time of year when the reservoir is drawn-down and the fish are forced out of cover.

MORGAN LAKE: Waters are warm, fish early mornings.

PENLAND LAKE: Fishing is good for rainbows from 10 to 15 inches.

SALT CREEK SUMMIT AND MCGRAW PONDS: Have been stocked with legal and trophy rainbow. Fishing is fair.

UMATILLA RIVER: Salmon and steelhead season opens on Sept. 1. Angling is expected to be poor until significant numbers of fish enter the river usually late September or early October. Flow augmentation from McKay Reservoir began Sept. 1.

UMATILLA FOREST PONDS: Fishing has slowed down with the warm water temperatures, but anglers willing to travel to the more remote ponds off of the Summit Road should have good success in morning and evening. For more information contact Tim Bailey, District Fish Biologist, at (541)-276-2344.

VICTOR POND: Has been stocked with legal and trophy rainbow. Fishing is fair.

WALLOWA LAKE: Lake has been stocked and angling is fair for hold-over and stocked rainbows. Kokanee fishing is good for fish up to 12 inches.

WALLOWA RIVER: Trout angling success is good.

WALLOWA WILDLIFE AREA POND: Has been stocked with legal and trophy rainbow. Fishing is fair.

WILLOW CREEK LAKE: Anglers have had fair success catching trout 12 to 15 inches, crappie averaging 6-8 inches and brown bullhead. Bass are being found in deeper water.

HUNTINGBAKER DISTRICT

COYOTE: Fresh early morning tracks and the right wind can make for a successful calling situation. Be sure to ask permission if hunting on private property.

WALLOWA DISTRICT

COYOTE: Good numbers of coyotes can be found throughout Wallowa County. Calling is most successful in areas of reduced human activity.

SNAKE RIVER ZONEFISHING

BROWNLEE RESERVOIR: Fishing has picked up for several species. Bluegill, crappie and perch have been good lately. Catfish and bass angling remains productive. Catfish have been biting well on worms and cutbait. The reservoir is 22 feet below normal. SNAKE RIVER (Below Hells Canyon Dam): Steelhead fishing opened September 1 for adipose fin-clipped fish.
