JOHN DAY – Jan. 29 Alma Joslin led the flag salute and Pastor Cheadle asked the blessing. Members of the First Baptist Christian Church served fried chicken, mac and cheese, herbed peas, tossed salad, muffins and baked apples. There was a larger than usual Monday crowd.

Vera Hensley was winner of the certificate from Len’s Drug.

Lila Schoiack, from Libby, Mont., enjoyed being out in the snow for a while. A group from the Prairie City Nursing Home also attended.

Feb. 8 baked chicken will be served and the 12th soup and sandwiches will be on the menu. The Center will be closed Feb. 19 in honor of President’s Day.

Wednesday night bingo will be discontinued until a volunteer bookkeeper steps forward.

Richard Courchesne has a 40-passenger bus to take folks on trips – his number is 541-421-5262, Strawberry Mountain Stage.

Thursday’s entree was delicious roast beef, furnished by Strawberry Mountain Stage. Mashed potatoes, gravy, corn, crab salad, hot rolls and cinnamon rolls topped off the meal.

Newcomers to the Center were Marion and Janice Dowell. Also welcomed were members of the John Day Police Department.

Helen Bogart led the flag salute and Pastor Cheadle asked the blessing. Members of the Episcopal Church served the meal. Certificate winners were Carryl Magee, Chester’s Thriftway, and Pearl Coombs won a free meal from the Site Council.

The ladies of the Catholic Church sent free meal tickets for the spaghetti dinner. Winners were Charlie Hyder, Bob McCauley, Ivan Porfily and Janice Dowell.

A trip to Winnemucca is being planned and will be detailed next week.

Thank you to all who in any way donate money and time to the Center.

Feb. 8 baked chicken will be served, the 12th soup and sandwiches, the 15th stew, and no doubt Cindy will make the delicious drop biscuits.
