Grant County scholarships available

Hunters Association

The Grant County Chapter of the Oregon Hunters Association is accepting applications for its 2007 scholarship through April 30.

The scholarship is open to graduating seniors in Grant Count high schools and is for $500.

Applicants should be entering a field of study relating to wildlife management, agriculture, range management or forestry.

Additional qualifying criteria and applications are available from counselors or administrators at local high schools.

Elks scholarships

JOHN DAY – Grant County High School students who plan to attend a four-year college or university in 2007 may apply for the John Day Elks Lodge #1824 Annual Scholarship. First-place winners receive $2,000 and second-place winners receive $1,000.

Applications and instructions are available at local high schools from counselors/principals.

All applications and letters of recommendation must be received by Scholarship Chairman Carol Rudishauser on or before May 4, 2007. Info: 820-3586.

Juniper Arts Council

The Juniper Arts Council is offering a $250 scholarship to students wishing to pursue a career in the visual or performing arts. The deadline to apply is May 11. Students may pick up an application at their school or contact Karin Barntish at 575-2721.
