PRAIRIE CITY – Another month, April 4, 2007, began with Marvin, Buzz, Jim and Ottis up early to prepare six tables, which were later nearly full by the 45 who signed in with Eula Thompson to eat a meal of rolls, green salad, cooked carrots, mashed potatoes, gravy, meatloaf and white cake prepared by Gene and Edna Jennings.

There were three meals delivered.

The flag salute was led by Del Lake. Yeah, Del and Bonnie are back in Grant County for the summer or our warmer days. The blessing was given Ben Luethe, Jr.

Pam Howard was the lucky winner of the Prairie Drug and Hardware certificate.

Leona Fritts reminded us about April 14th Grange’s paint party and to bring a brush to help smear the paint on the walls. I hope they don’t get mad at me for saying “smear.”

It was announced that the blood draw in Baker City is April 9 – 14, morning hours.

Sherri Becke of Community Connections joined us today and later she visited with some.

Our faithful servers were Louise LaBaugh, Vivian Rookstool, Lou Thoemke and Pam Howard, American Legion Auxiliary ladies.

Lorna Askew and Kathleen DuBuc brought from the nursing home Carl Johns, Gene Emery, Vern Randall, Joyce Morton, Myn Quilling and Gladys Hopper.

I managed to see Jean Kline and Bonnie Lake prewashing the silverware. I assume Cleo Dunten and Marvin Casebeer washed the tables. Who helped Jim Howard clean the dining area floor?

Since Sunday, April 8, was Easter, I missed the Easter songs like “Easter Parade,” “Put on your Easter Bonnet,” “Christ Arose,” etc. from the 1940s and 50s or earlier.
