Anna Alegria won the certificate from Len’s Drug.
Thursday the entree was furnished by Don and Deda Porter. Don and Deda are always early to the center to do the many “honey dos” required to maintain the building or any of the other multitude of needs.

Servers were members of the Mt. Vernon Grange and volunteers.
Bob McCauley led the flag salute and Ben Luethe asked the blessing.
The entree was Salisbury steak and mashed potatoes, gravy, corn, fruit salad and hot rolls were served. The dessert was carrot cake donated by King’s Discount Store and Driskill Memorial Chapel. The cake is donated monthly to honor that month’s birthdays.
Flower Shop ‘n’ More brought a beautiful bouquet to honor a lady with an April birthday. A large group from Monument/Long Creek came for lunch and shopping, via the senior bus.
Chester’s Thriftway certificate was won by Stella McCauley.
The resident osprey have returned to their nests!
Some concern for Maude, as she never returned on schedule but was about a week later than usual. Claude was one happy bird when she returned. I suppose she hit some conditions that cancelled flight – much like the airlines. Shirley Enright keeps statistics on Maude and Claude and other birds that rest on their ponds. The snow birds (junkos) are spending more time in the valley because of the colder spring.
Where did all the red-wing blackbirds come from, anyway? They compete with the quail for the 450 pounds of chicken scratch/cracked wheat I have furnished throughout the winter on their “feeding ground.”
? I never forget a face or a name. The bothersome thing in my case is the names I remember are seldom the same as those that belong to the face.
