Michael Wade Gentis of Canyon City died on April 21, 2007. He was 42.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, April 26, 2007, at the Canyon City Cemetery. A reception will follow at the John Day Senior Center.

Mr. Gentis was born on March 27, 1965, in John Day to Walt and Donna (Young) Gentis. He graduated from Grant Union High School in 1983. He worked as a logger, operating heavy equipment.

He was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved being outdoors.

Mr. Gentis is survived by his son, Brian Gentis, of John Day; parents, Walt and Donna Gentis, of Canyon City; two brothers, Sherm Gentis, and his wife, Ginger, of John Day; and John Gentis of John Day; and by nieces and nephews, Cheyenne, Jack, Troy and Mathew.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Mike Gentis Memorial Fund through Driskill Memorial Chapel or US Bank. The fund will be used to help pay for his son’s college education.
