PRAIRIE CITY – May 30, 2007 started with James H., Ottis G., Marvin C. and Buzz Harris preparing seven tables for the birthday Wednesday. There were three meals delivered, but 50 signed in. Pam Howard subbed for Eula at the sign-in table as Eula was gone to her daughter’s in the Eugene area.

Marvin Casebeer started by leading the flag salute. Ben Luethe Jr. did the blessing.

Our servers were Dorothy Blasing, Helen Emmel, Vonnie Blasing and Rose Gray from the Baptist church.

We had our birthday meal of chicken, salad, whole corn, rolls, mashed potatoes, gravy and cakes, with white angle food at the birthday table and brown cake for others.

Billy Drinkwater was the lucky winner at the birthday table of six for the Huffman’s certificate. Strawberry Salon certificate went to Hazel Wood and Prairie Drug and Hardware certificate went to Daniel Harris.

Billy also celebrated his 90th birthday Sunday with all his family, kids and grandkids and friends who asked him to yodel, so he did it again today for us.

Our nursing home guests were Gladys Hopper, Joyce Morton, Margaret Sagert and Nestle Davis. Patty Jones and Lorna Askew assisted them.

Other guests were Andy Patton from Dallas, Barbara Reynolds’ guest, and John Caspey was Larry Wright’s guest.

Did you enjoy the fly-over Monday? Not Saturday. Two planes flying eastward over town were noisy enough, but enjoyed seeing them so low. My question is which air base did they come from as someone was told they were coming from Idaho. (They came from Kingsley Field in Klamath Falls).

Even I had a birthday dinner Sunday at Dennis and Arleene Lynch’s. Who’s responsible – Arleene or Wanda Barnhart? Thanks, enjoyed it but too stuffed to eat at Billy’s, so just visited with those I know and some I never saw before.
