BURNS – Fourteen Grant County runners and walkers gathered at the east rim of the Steens Mountains Aug. 4 for the 2007 Chris Miller Memorial Steens Rim Run/Walk.

The route begins at 8,700 feet and follows a 10K stretch up the west side of the Steens Mountain to the finish line – a 2,000 feet elevation gain.

The event became the Chris Miller Memorial Run in 1987, a tribute to Chris Miller, an avid runner on the Burns Cross Country team who died in a hunting accident earlier that year.
