SENECA – A missing motorcyclist was located Wednesday, Sept. 5, after his bike ran out of gas.

Sheriff Glenn Palmer said an Oregon Department of Forestry fire engine found Lance Wordsworth about 5 p.m. at Crane Crossing, on the North Fork of the Malheur River.

Palmer said Wordsworth, a New Zealander, was on a motorcycle ride in the area Tuesday, Sept. 4, when acquaintances reported him overdue. He was driving a Kawasaki 250 cc Enduro, and was expected to show up at the Bear Cat Lodge in Seneca or at Little Crane Campground located on the Malheur National Forest.

On Sept. 5, the sheriff’s office continued a ground search and launched an air search, with planes covering the area from Burns north to Seneca and east to Little Crane Campground. The air search ended in the late afternoon after pilots had covered the territory.
