Charlyne E. Rutter of Baker City, died Oct. 19, 2007, at Ashley Manor, in Baker City. She was 89.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Nov. 9, 2007, at the First Christian Church in John Day. Pastor Duane Cheadle will officiate.

Mrs. Rutter is survived by her husband, Eldon Whitesitt, of Newport; daughter, Marilyn, and her husband, Pastor Duane Cheadle, of Prairie City; brother, Merrill McKern, of Eugene; sister, Wilma (McKern) Bauer, of Mt. Vernon; one sister-in-law, Marilyn McKern, of John Day; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
