DAYVILLE – School officials are celebrating good marks – not just for the kids but for the school itself – this year.
Superintendent Debbie Gillespie said recently that Dayville School was one of 157 schools to earn an “exceptional” rating on the Oregon School Report Card.
In a letter to patrons, she noted that the school has a banner noting that status, presented by the state Department of Education, displayed in the main office.
Gillespie also was proud that the school was listed in US News and World Report’s annual school awards. Dayville was among 1,086 schools nationwide picked to receive a bronze award.
The magazine’s award program is based on college readiness, math and reading skills and other factors.
Gillespie thanked the community for its support and contributions toward student success.
“The achievements … are the direct result of caring and dedicated staff, parents and community members,” she said.
