MONUMENT – Our menu on Tuesday, Jan. 22, consisted of beef stew, green salad, biscuits and brownies. The entire meal was delicious and the biscuits were fantastic. Jerry Boyer was the nice guy who furnished the beef for the stew. Thank you, Jerry; we appreciate you. Our only guest was Donald Breeding from Gresham, and he made 36 diners. Lois Groves won the certificate from Chester’s Thriftway and Marion Fowler won the free meal.

Our esteemed CEO, Jerry Cowger, reminded everyone that they were having the “Resource Fair” at the Senior Center on Wednesday, Jan. 23. They had door prizes and all kinds of goodies, including dinner cooked and served by the Future Farmers of America. A busload of people went to Spray today for dinner and a good time visiting. And they will probably all come back and tell me how great the dinner was, and how just about everyone was there to visit with, and they just had the best time in the world! I’m going to be able to take the bus trips again, and I’m going to enjoy every single one of them.
I’ve told everyone, nearly, about my grandson, Zachary, and his guitar. But hadn’t written about it yet – so can’t neglect my faithful readers. Zachary has been taking guitar lessons for about a year and a half, and doing quite well at it. His teacher belongs to a real band and for their “finals,” they would each “star” with the band. This was held in an auditorium, with quite a crowd, and when Zachary came up for his part, he had picked “Johnny B. Goode” to play. That song has become a classic, and Chuck Berry had his 15 minutes of fame with that song. I heard it for the first time 50 years ago. I know Zachary did a good job on it, and to prove it, there was a couple from the audience who got up and danced in the aisle!
