Why I’m participating in the Challenge!

My #1 goal is to move more. The older I get the harder it is to motivate me. I plan on walking into Strawberry Lake this summer, which hasn’t happened in 19+ years and am hoping to go all the way to Slide Lake. I’m telling you all this, so that you can hold me to it!

The biggest obstacle to achieving my goal would be my lazyness. It’s easier to “relax” after dinner, than to actually get up and do something. To be successful, I need positive feedback and people to hold me accountable. My family is my biggest motivator.

My #1 strategy is to make my lunch for work everyday – sorry McD’s, DQ, Subway,… – it’s expensive and most of the choices on any of these menus are pretty high in calories. Another strategy, is telling myself that I can save that money that was normally spent on lunch and buy clothes in smaller sizes!!!

My team and the other teams at the Credit Union will help me stay focused. A suggestion this morning was made (thank you Mary Locke!!) to make two trips up and down the two flights of stairs at the CU. It caught on and most of the people participating did in the challenge did it. Our plan is to increase it by one (at least) a week. I knew I was out of shape, but after completing mine I was definitely entering the “cardio” phase of a workout, which hasn’t happened in quite some time.

My secret food craving would be crackers – cheezits.

As far as exercise, I’ve never been very athletic, but always wanted to be, just not very coordinated. An exercise that I’m not fond of is anything that makes you sweat! So I guess my answer is “all” exercise – pretty sad, huh!
