Arrests and citations the Blue Mountain Eagle reports are taken from the logs of area law-enforcement agencies. Every effort is made to report the court disposition of all arrests listed.

Justice CourtCANYON CITY – The Grant County Justice Court reported the following fines and judgments:

? Jules Perez, Prairie City, was cited for driving while suspended. Fined $325.

? Angela Thompson, Prineville, was cited for driving in violation of the basic rule (82/55 zone). Fined $242 and driver’s license was suspended for failure to pay fines, $25.

? Earl Jeffrey Wight, Aloha, Ore., was found guilty of second degree criminal trespassing. Another count of criminal trespassing while in possession of a firearm was dismissed. He was fined $367 and ordered to perform 10 hours of community service work.

? Alec Leron Johnsen, Aloha, Ore., was found guilty of criminal trespassing while in possession of a firearm. Another count of the same charge was dismissed. He was fined $367 and ordered to perform 10 hours of community service work.

? Steven Daniel Cossitt, Spray, was found guilty of depositing trash within 100 yards of water. He was fined $362 and ordered to write a letter of apology to James Kelley.

? Jennifer Nicole Deems, Estacada, was found guilty of second degree criminal trespassing. She was ordered to pay $800 in restitution to ODFW and her hunting priviledges were suspended for 24 months.

? Chris Eugene Alsman Jr., Estacada, was found guilty of second degree criminal trespassing. Fined $500, placed on bench probation for 12 months and ordered to perform 40 hours of community service work.

Oregon State Police? McKenzie M. Portugal, 16, Prairie City, was cited for careless driving, following a single-vehicle crash on Highway 26 near Indian Creek Road.

? Gary L. Richard Sr., 54, Kearney, Neb., was cited for possession of less than one ounce of marijuana.

? Steven Schuette, John Day, reported to OSP damage to his vehicle from a large, snow-covered rock in the middle of the roadway. He was advised to contact ODOT regarding the damage.

? OSP responded to a single-vehicle crash on Highway 395, in the Starr Ridge area. George J. Riberio, Hines, swerved to avoid a southbound semi-truck that was partially in the northbound lane. Ribeiro was not injured and his vehicle was pulled out of the drifts in the road’s shoulder.

? OSP assisted ODOT in response to multiple slide offs on Jan. 31, on Highway 395 near Meadow Brook Summit. The highway was temporarily closed for about 30 minutes.

DispatchJohn Day dispatch worked 148 calls during the week of Jan. 28 to Feb. 3, 2008. Along with the various traffic warnings, trespassing, injured animals, noise complaints, and juvenile complaints, these calls included:

Law enforcement: John Day Police responded to a report of a power outage at the Fossil Beds; Oregon State Police responded to a report of horses on Highway 26 near Indian Creek Road; JD Police responded to a report of suspicious persons and vehicle; Grant County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a fraud scam in Mt. Vernon; John Day Fire Dept. responded to a report of a person failing to register as a sex offender; Sheriff’s deputies received information on an assault at Monument School; JD Police responded to a report of disorderly conduct; OSP responded to a report of a deer that had been shot and might be salvagable; Sheriff’s deputies responded to a complaint that a person was making threats on someone; JD Police took a report on an assault; Sheriff’s deputies, OSP and Long Creek ambulance responded to a report of disorderly conduct in Long Creek; JD Police responded to a report of a juvenile problem; Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of medication taken out of a car; OSP responded to a report of a cow on Highway 26 east of John Day; JD Police removed rocks from the road at Mill Corner; Sheriff’s deputies took information on a suspicious vehicle; Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of drug information in Long Creek; JD Police responded to a report of theft; OSP responded to a report of cows on the road near Indian Creek; Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of horses running on West Bench Road; Sheriff’s deputies responded to a vehicle accident in Prairie City; Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of explosives recovered from a Prairie City residence; Sheriff’s deputies arrested a Dayville man for DUII; OSP responded to a report of shots fired in Charolais Heights; Sheriff’s deputies attempted to located a person wanted on a warrant; Sheriff’s deputies received a report of snowmobiles making noise on the 218 Trail; JD Police cited a woman for driving while suspended; Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of an injured deer on West Highway 26.

Ambulance: John Day and Mt. Vernon ambulances were requested to transport a 74- year-old woman to Blue Mountain Hospital; John Day ambulance was requested for a woman who had fallen out of her chair and was found outside.
