JOHN DAY – Oregon Trail Electric Co-op members who wish to seek assistance with heating bills in Grant County should call the John Day Senior Center, 575-2949 for information.

A previous notice from the cooperative directed members to call the La Grande office, but officials said last week to call the John Day center instead.

The aid comes after OTEC made a large cash contribution to Eastern Oregon’s Low-income Energy Assistance program (LIEAP).

OTEC contributed $30,354, including $26,744 to Community Connections of Eastern Oregon for disbursement to OTEC members in Baker, Grant and Union counties and $3,610 to Harney County.

Allocation of the OTEC contribution to LIEAP is based on the total number of OTEC electric meters within each county that OTEC serves. These funds can be used toward any type of heating fuel.
