Photographer Bob Brown is being honored as the “Artist of the Month” at Sterling Savings Bank in John Day.

In love with photography since his high school days in Baker City, Brown says he is still “constantly chasing the perfect scene.” He says he usually spends many very early and late hours at a location, trying to capture the best of the light and shadows.

Brown says that most of his photographs are taken in Oregon, and many of them right here in Grant County. He says people don’t always recognize some of the scenes as familiar ones from the local area.

When asked about his favorite or best photo, he replies with an answer noted photographer Ansel Adams often used to give, “I haven’t taken it yet.”

Brown’s work as “stock photography” has been widely published in various magazines and publications such as Ruralite and Northwest Travel magazines, publications of the Oregon and Idaho Departments of Transportation, as well as numerous calendars and phone book covers.

Brown’s work will be on display at Sterling Savings Bank throughout February. For more information about Bob Brown and his photography, visit his website at (www.robertbrownphotography.net). He can also be reached at 541-620-4202.
