Leap baby arrives in John Day: Bryan René Camacho

Katrina Sayers and Frankie Camacho of John Day announce the birth of a son, at Blue Mountain Hospital 8:48 a.m., on Feb. 29, 2008. He weighed 6 pounds, 5 ounces and was 19 1/2 inches long.

Grandparents are Leisa and Efrain Camacho of John Day, and Janet Sayers and Richard Guilliams, also of John Day. Great-grandmother is Joan Rowe of Silverton.

Bryan René, due on March 3, made an early appearance for Leap Day. Grandma Janet says that she had guessed early on he would be born on Leap Day. The new mother said she is just happy that he’s here, healthy and perfect.” The family says they they may share or spread out the birthday celebrations each year over two days, Feb. 28 and March 1, with a “big party” every four years, on Feb. 29.
