Oregon Trail Electric Co-op (OTEC) recently selected four high school students to represent OTEC at the 2008 Washington, D.C. Youth Tour.
The four are: Savannah Kowing of Canyon City, Steven Crader of Union, Dakota Olson of Baker City and Patrick Stampke of Hines.
Along with several hundred Youth Tour participants from around the country, they will spend June 12-19 at the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association Youth Tour in Washington, D.C.
Youth Tour participants will learn about the electric co-op utility business and how our federal legislative process works. They will meet with their federal legislators, possibly discussing issues. In addition, they will visit monuments, memorials, museums, archives, tour the Capitol and the Library of Congress.
“It’s a fantastic learning experience for these students. This Washington, D.C. Youth Tour is an activity that OTEC is proud to offer our high school students,” said Steve Schauer, OTEC manager of member services.
